RMCMI Patron Program Since 1912 The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute has been promoting coal through education. The mission has evolved over the years to include a scholarship program, started in 1984, and public education funding that began in 2002.RMCMI is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the promotion of western coal through education. Member states are Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.Essay scholarships are awarded in numerous fields to students of varied backgrounds.
